Located a mere 5 minute walk from the airport, the internet cafe and the beach, Kariwak is truly an oasis in the lively Crown Point area. Conceived and constructed by the owners/managers in the early eighties, Kariwak is a family run establishment with a reputation for its unassuming "hippy-chic" flair.
It has carved a distinctive niche with its holistic approach to holidays that soothe the body, mind and the spirit. Intimate accommodation, exquisite food, revitalising massage treatments, lush tropical gardens dominated by the thatched roof ajoupa...the venue for tai chi, yoga and meditation.
ROOMS The rooms are comfortable and cool featuring air-conditioning, tile floors, baths, hardwood furniture and a tropical décor. Kariwak has 24 thoughtfully appointed rooms each with its own private bathroom and patio. 18 cabana style rooms are nestled around the pool and the remaining 6 are tucked away in the back gardens.
All the rooms are equipped with a safe and a radio alarm clock. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards are also available from the front desk. However, should you choose to bring your own please note that the voltage in Tobago is 110/220 V with American style 3 prong outlets. Cribs are provided for babies.
Facilities and Dining The grounds are a lush, lovely, tropical profusion of plants enclosing the 10 cabanas that house the 20 tasteful rooms. Large palms provide restful shade around the swimming pool. Kariwak is dedicated to holistic health with yoga, tai-chi, qi gong, morning stretches, and massage all a part of the daily routine.
The outdoor Jacuzzi with a delightful waterfall is surrounded by tropical garden Activities can keep you as busy as you want to be. Boating, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, bird watching, fishing, hiking, tennis, golf, horseback riding, swimming, and relaxing on the beach are just a few ways to spend your leisure time on the tranquil island of Tobago. The main Kariwak pool is adjacent to the Restaurant and Bar; beach towels are complimentary to our guests.
Our Waterfall Jacuzzi plunge pool is nestled in the back gardens where you will also find a number of hammocks well placed for an evening nap or a day of reading. There are no televisions in the rooms but there is a central television viewing room with Cable TV, which broadcasts a number of local and American channels as well as BBC World and Deutsche World. Our TV Room also houses our little library with a variety of books in almost any language.
The open-air Village Restaurant and bar is well known for its friendly service and healthy menu. it has an unmistakably Caribbean ambience - thatched roofs, tiled floors, coral stone walls, bamboo and rattan furnishings. The Kariwak restaurant has established an enviable reputation for its original Caribbean and Creole cuisine prepared under Cynthia's watchful guidance and generously flavoured with fresh herbs from the Kariwak garden.
Special children’s meals are also available on request. Vegetarian meals, sandwiches and salads are always available.
The Bar - a full range of wines and a large selection of beverages with or without alcohol are available. |
