Caneel Bay is paradise as it was intended the intention is to make you to 'disconnect' in pristine natural surroundings and low-key luxury. The exclusive resort, nestled within the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, remains faithful to the vision of founder Laurance Rockefeller and his reverence for the environment. Seven secluded white sand beaches border 170 lush acres where Caneel's accommodations have been artfully built to blend into the landscape. A true escape, the resort remains purposefully absent of modern glitz, digital distractions and the furious pace of the world at home.
ROOMS Nestled within Caneel’s lush grounds are 166 charming guestrooms that feature truly inspiring views. Each intimate retreat has been thoughtfully decorated with natural woods, native stone, hand-crafted furniture and richly woven fabrics. Relax as cool ocean breezes whisper through the plantation shutters and our discerning staff attends to your every need.
Every night a turn down service is provided as well as maid service twice daily. Room Amenities: Minibar, in-room safe, beach towels, in-room coffee maker, bathrobes, iron & ironing board, lady Primrose bath products, complimentary bottled water, telephone pavilion outside of rooms. There are many room categories available to guests:
Courtside - Located near the tennis courts and fitness center, these rooms offer views of lush tropical greenery and are a short walk to the beach.
Garden View - Also near the tennis courts and fitness center, these slightly larger, ground-level rooms are located on a hill. They are surrounded by Caneel's beautiful foliage and fauna and are also just a stroll to the beach. Ocean View - These rooms, near the water's edge, offer panoramic patio or balcony views of the beach and sea Beach Front - Located directly on the pristine sands of Caneel's beaches, these rooms feature spacious balconies or patios.
Premium Beach Front - Located on Cottage Point, these rooms are perched above the shoreline with unobstructed sea views.
Premium Ocean Front - Offering the utmost in privacy, these beachfront rooms are located in single-level units and feature patios that open directly onto the finest of Caneel's beaches.
Cottage 7 - Of you are looking for seclusion and complete luxury look no further than Cottage 7 Located in what once was Laurance Rockefeller's private estate house, this collection of five individual, oversized accommodations offers the most dramatic rooms and patios available, as well as breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.
Dining There are many different dining options available at Caneel Bay and wine cellars that go hand in hand with the quality of the resort. Continental breakfast and afternoon tea are complementary to guests throughout their stay.
Turtle Bay Estate House - Succumb to the charms of the Caribbean moon while enjoying a romantic dinner at Caneel’s most elegant restaurant, the Turtle Bay Estate House. Perched high on a panoramic peninsula, Turtle Bay offers an inspired menu of classical and creative American cuisine served against a backdrop of ethereal beauty. Relax with a cocktail on the Verandah. Then, savor a candlelit feast in the beautifully appointed dining room. Breakfast and lunch buffets are also served in high season at Turtle Bay. Afternoon tea and evening cocktails are served on the Verandah.
The Wine Room - located within the walls of an 18th-century plantation house, seats up to 10 for private dinners. A prix-fixe, seven-course menu, carefully selected to highlight selections from Caneel's wine collection, is offered. The wine list is comprised of 265 selections to complement wine tastings and pairing dinners. The Caribbean's only fully operational, temperature-controlled wine room boasts over 1,000 bottles of wine. Open for dinner all week in winter and four nights in fall, spring and summer.
Equator Restaurant - every evening is celebrated with passionate flair. Within the dramatic stone and coral ruins of this enchanted 18th-century sugar mill, guests enjoy an intriguing menu of eclectic cuisine while a glorious paprika sun sets over the water. The restaurant overlooks all of Caneel Bay with the dramatic lights of St. Thomas in the distance. It’s specialty menu features fresh seafood and grilled meats prepared with classic and Caribbean flair. Caneel Beach Terrace/Caneel Bay Bar - Sumptuous lunch buffets are available at the Caneel Beach Terrace. This open-air dining room located just a few steps from the Caneel Bay shoreline, is also a popular spot for the weekly Grand Buffet. All meals feature the finest cuisine prepared with health and fitness in mind.
Facilities There are many complementary facilities offered by Caneel Bay, as soon as you arrive at St. Thomas you are greeted with a welcome bottle of island rum. For the more active water-sports are included such as snorkelling, sunfish sailboats, kayaks, windsurfing, even an Introductery Scuba lesson for those who want to explore the island more! Guest have full use of the fitness centre and the resorts pools and if all that is not enough there is also rum-tasting and massage demonstrations.
It is also possible to arrange boat and fishing charters, guided snorkelling tours, tour of St.Johns, Day trips to Little Dix, as well as weddings and Sunset Cruises. |
